Let’s take a look at the deals negotiated before the start of the 2022/23 season.
The longest contract handed out by the Thunderbirds was a whopping five-year deal. This is what they agreed with Wake:riat Bowhunter in September 2022.
Bowhunter was the club’s first-round pick in the 2022 draft.
That duration is very unusual in the NLL. Indeed, I’m not aware of another five-year contract signed in the lead-up to this season.
These forwards signed one-year deals:

- Connor Watson
Cody Jamieson was appointed captain for the season. The Halifax franchise value him so much that they placed the franchise tag on him in August.
That ties him to the club for a year. But it also puts him in the highest earning bracket at the club.
